WHO'S THERE

Who’s there? the guards ask of the ghost of Hamlet’s father as it enters the scene. What do you want? We are confronted again with ghosts, the dead and long-lost lives. There is a cough, legs are crossed and then standing ovations. The audience simply loves this play! And they’re coming again and again, have been waiting for thousands of years for this end to end all ends which – alas – never quite seems to occur. But they have paid for this. A high price. This play was only ever meant for them, the curtains have always been open…

Torben Ibs: A new start at the Schauspiel Leipzig, TAZ, Oct 2013

Every member of the audience is separated and guided into a Twin-Peaks- style cabinet of red curtains and black-and- white floors to wait until the curtains abruptly rise and hungry eyes fall onto the guest. Audience member? Actor? The roles start to mix and blend, most of all because the Berlin-based group has brought plenty of surrealism along for the ride. A good start.

Gerd Brendel: The “Strange Magic-Festival” in Berlin delivers illusions into the theatre, Deutschlandradio, Nov 25, 2013

…this is it. This is all theatre can achieve. And all the David Copperfields of this world put together couldn’t do more.
